Gov. Pat Quinn shrugged off questions about Department of Corrections director Michael Randle Monday during a visit to Southern Illinois Airport.
“I’m here to talk about aviation,” Quinn said when asked if Randle still had his confidence.
Quinn has said the DOC was responsible for establishing an early prisoner release program without his knowledge. Three top corrections officials, who served at the pleasure of the director, were let go shortly after the program became public in an Associated Press article.
Asked if Quinn forsees removing Randle from his position, Quinn said it’s important to make sure everyone is doing their job. He was then rushed towards a crowd of university, construction and labor leaders.
Quinn told Capitol Fax in April that Randle still had his confidence.
